  Hi I am interested in future purchase of a pair of black Australian swans as I am building a house bordering a 17 acre lake in Tarboro, NC that is currently in an uninhabited forest. The lake and two others are the result of a closed sandpit that was dug next to the tar river. Before buying the pair I need advice as to how to protect the pinioned birds from predators. There is a small island in the lake and I plan on adding a small floating raft island so they have another safe area. There is plenty of vegetation but I will also supplement their diet with a floating feed station. We just moved to North Carolina in August and are beginning this retirement adventure. I will take very good care of the swans. I have been breeding Cavalier King Charles spaniels for many years but realize they can not be near the birds since it would frighten them.

  I am certainly interested in your Black Swans How many do you have? Are you able to determine the sex at this age?
